How to use Social Networking to Advocate Yourself.

If you are not on Facebook, you fundamentally don’t even exist, a friend has said to me some time ago. I am now beginning to agree with those who say it. To see out what is going on in the lives of persons you know you only have to look at these social network sites. If you don’t make use of these websites then it’s very difficult to keep in touch.

But don’t just think of these sites as a way of keeping up to date about the lives of acquaintances. Another use of social websites is publicizing yourself and drawing in business especially if you are a real estate agent. The times when a billboard or a tiny advertisement in a newspaper was enough for propagation of one’s work or business are long disappeared and they will never come back. Internet is THE strong tool now. If you have an internet connection, it is not impossible to discover help and recommendations on making full use of social networking.

Of course it’s much more time consuming for older generations to get used to all the types of new websites, ways of writing, commenting and all the related tasks. Kids go on computers from a young age, so are at ease with them, while we, from the older generation, are taking a while to work things out. In spite of that, we try I don’t think it’s just me that feels like that and a few of my fellow realtors are finding it just as difficult.

After working all day its not surprising we come home tired, so it’s difficult to sum up the energy to find interesting things to discuss on blogs or make posts on social websites such as facebook and twitter. Our daily lives now involves just that sort of communication. Instead of sitting down in front of the TV, relaxation now means sitting in front of a computer and writing on social networking sites. Is there members of the public out there that are interested in our articles? For all the work we put into our features and posts, are only fellow realtors reading it? I suppose we will never know for sure, will we?

Personally because the articles are of interest to me, I do read and look at the websites of my fellow real estate representatives. Are these articles of any interest to people not involved in the real estate market, that I can’t answer. So now I don’t have to see or talk to my co-workers often to know what is going on with their lives, I can read about it in their articles and posts. I know now more about individuals that I haven’t spoken to for ages due to the internet and the social network sites. That sure is brilliant!

As a realtor I market Condominiums Toronto, and I believe social networking to be one of the key ways of getting new leads. Hopefully this little article was of any help for you!
